The Syndicate

The Simple Living Syndicate was founded in 2008 by Brenda Tierney Joyce from Buncrana. Brenda has a vision of creating an environment that can enable small business owners to sell their products under one roof without having to take on the overhead of leasing retail space.

Before starting her own design and craft business ‘Ruby Rose Creative Services’, Brenda worked in the creative industry for 15 years both in Ireland and the UK. Through her work in the retail sector she has recognised the need for alternative shopping experiences in Ireland, where you are able buy bespoke and original products at very reasonable prices and enjoy a contemporary community event at the same time. “Our fairs will be like ‘alternative high streets’ where you can purchase everything you need under one roof, from food shopping to clothing and giftware.”

Brenda comments “The difference between our fairs and a regular high street is that the products you will buy will be fresh, contemporary and exciting not mass produced, throwaway items. But they will also be very affordable, which is key.”  Thus the idea of the ‘Simple Living Fairs’ came to pass.

Details of upcoming Simple Living events in Ireland will be posted shortly.

Mission Statement

The Simple Living Syndicate aims to offer a sales platform to local small businesses in Ireland in the form of regular sales fairs. We are keen to encourage local and ethical shopping, showcase the work of the Irish contemporary creative community, and discover exciting new emerging talents.

Our Beliefs

• We can contribute to making the world a better place;

• We can choose products which neither harm the environment nor the people that make them;

• We can reduce our carbon footprint and help our economy by buying local;

• We can redistribute wealth in favour of individual makers and small businesses rather than global giants;

• We can encourage creativity, talent and individuality;

• We can promote quality versus quantity;

• We can buy less and appreciate what we buy;

• We can keep traditional skills and crafts alive for future generations;

• We can buy from artisans who adhere to ethical and eco-friendly practices.

If you are interested in taking part in any of our events please email us at simplelivingfairs@gmail.com.

Please note: we would like to point out that a group have been marketing themselves as Simple Living within Inishowen, Co Donegal but this is merely a replication of the country market concept and not in any way connected to the Simple Living Syndicate!
